Reference proceeding for Karpal to be decided later

The tribute, called a reference proceeding, is a memorium held for departed Bar members at the High Court of their respective states.

The proceedings are presided over by judges and attended by members of the Bar, family and friends of the departed, among others.

More than one deceased members are usually commemorated in each proceeding.

However, the Penang Bar Committee said it was considering to hold a special session for Karpal.

“It is too soon to have it now. Let’s have everything settled down first. We might have a special one for Karpal but that will be determined by the bar committee,” Penang Bar chairman Abdul Fareed Abdul Gafoor told Astro AWANI today.

Karpal was killed in an accident at Kilometre 301.6, North-South Highway near Gua Tempurung, Perak around 1.30am, Wednesday.
