Sebuah restoran di Pusat Perniagaan Gemilang, Jalan Song Ban Kheng, di sini mengalami kerosakan akibat perbuatan khianat pihak tidak bertanggungjawab yang meletupkan pintu premis itu dengan bahan letupan dipercayai mercun awal hari ini.
Menurut pemilik premis itu yang hanya ingin dikenali sebagai Low, 40-an, kejadian kira-kira pukul 5 pagi itu disedari oleh seorang daripada pekerja restoran berkenaan yang mendengar bunyi letupan dari sebuah pangsapuri yang dijadikan asrama pekerja.
Katanya jarak antara restoran itu dan pangsapuri berkenaan kira-kira 250 meter dan dipisahkan hanya dengan jalan raya.
"Saya dihubungi oleh pekerja untuk memaklumkan mengenai letupan itu dan semasa saya tiba di kedai, pintu gelongsor jenis besi di bahagian tepi kedai sudah terkopak dan sisa bahan letupan dipercayai mercun yang digunakan untuk merosakkan kedai saya juga didapati bertaburan.
"Letupan itu juga menyebabkan empat buah meja yang terletak berhampiran pintu gelongsor rosak," katanya kepada pemberita di sini hari ini.
Low yang membuka restoran berkenaan sejak setahun lepas masih meneruskan perniagaan restorannya hari ini kerana letupan itu hanya menyebabkan kerosakan kecil dengan anggaran kerugian kira-kira RM5,000 dan tidak menjejaskan bahagian dalaman premis tersebut.
"Saya berniaga dari pukul 11 pagi hingga 12 tengah malam. Setakat ini saya tidak tahu motif mengapa restoran saya menjadi sasaran kerana selama ini saya tidak mempunyai musuh dalam perniagaan," katanya.
Kata Low, beliau akan meneliti rakaman kamera litar tertutup (CCTV) yang dipasang di premis berkenaan bagi mengenal pasti individu yang terlibat meletakkan mercun.
Beliau membuat laporan di Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) untuk tindakan lanjut.
Sementara itu, Ketua Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah Negeri SAC Mazlah Kesah ketika dihubungi mengesahkah polis telah menerima laporan berhubung kejadian itu.
Katanya siasatan awal mendapati bahan letupan yang digunakan untuk merosakkan kedai itu dipercayai mercun berdasarkan kesan belerang yang ditemui di sekitar kawasan letupan.
