The Royal Malaysian Air Force today handed a National Warriors and Defence Trust Fund (TAPPN) cheque, totalling RM22,000, to Assyuhadak Ahmad, the widow of Major Mohd Hasri Zahari who was killed in the Hawk 108 crash on June 15.

RMAF Air Region 2 commander Major General Datuk Mohd Shabre Hussein said the contribution was awarded as Mohd Hasri, 31, was grouped among RMAF officers who died while on operation duty.

"The Malaysian Armed Forces and especially RMAF care for the welfare of every personnel and their families.

"If a personnel dies in the course of duty, we will take care of the welfare of the widow and their children," he told reporters after handing over the TAPPN cheque to the widow of Mohd Hasri at Felda Lui Muda here.

Mohd Shabre said RMAF was compiling several other financial benefits under the Records and Pensions Department.

"Apart from that, the Armed Forces Cooperative was also in the process of evaluating group insurance, fees as well as savings deposited by Mohd Hasri during his service in RMAF," he said.

Mohd Hasri and his colleague Major Yazmi Mohamed Yusof , 39, were killed after the Hawk 108 fighter jet they were in crashed in a swamp in Chukai, Terengganu on June 15.

The British-made aircraft was reported missing and lost contact at 11.30am after leaving Kuantan Air Base in Pahang.

Meanwhile, Assyuhadak, 30, said she appreciated the contribution presented by RMAF to her family.

Asked on Hari Raya celebration on Sunday, she said she would celebrate the festival with their six-month-old daughter Nur Hafiya at Felda Lui Muda as fulfilling her husband''s wish to celebrate Aidilfitri here.
