Road Transport Union lodges police report against 'Saiful Otai'
He said the report was made at a police station in Perak.
The Peninsular Malaysia Road Transport Officers Union has lodged a police report against a Facebook account holder for hurling baseless accusations against an enforcement officer who was killed after being run over by a trailer lorry here on Wednesday.
Road Transport Department (RTD) deputy director-general (management), Datuk Wan Ahmad Uzir Wan Sulaiman said the Facebook account holder, who used the name 'Saiful Otai', claimed he was at the scene near the Setia Alam Toll Plaza and that the victim got his just desserts because he was linked to corruption and abuse of power.
"If it is true the victim is involved in corruption and abuse of power, why don't he just report to the RTD higher-ups so that disciplinary action can be taken when he was still alive?
"The charge is heavy, imagine the feelings of his family when reading such comments.
"A prompt action must be taken so that the victim's name can be cleared and the perpetrator receive appropriate punishment," he told reporters after handing over a contribution to Maizatul Akma Mohammad, 39, the widow of RTD officer, Kamarul Azri Abdullah Zawaei, 43, who died of heart ailment last month here Saturday.
He said the report was made at a police station in Perak.
In the incident about 1pm, the victim, Mohd Ridzuan Yusoff, 34, died at the scene of the mishap from head injuries.
Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad Uzir said the RTD top brass would not compromise with its officers or personnel who flouted discipline while on duty.
He said action was meted out against 105 officers and personnel over numerous offences, including corruption and abuse of power from 2015 to September this year. - BERNAMA
