Rohingya migrants can receive tithe - Pahang Mufti

Tithe collection can be used to help the Rohingya migrants as they are categorised as the 'ar-Riqab', one of the groups of recipients eligible to receive tithe, Pahang Mufti Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Osman said.

He said the Rohingya migrants were ranked fifth, after the destitute, poor, tithe collectors and new converts, eligible to receive the tithe.

"In the past, 'Riqab' is the category for slaves who are oppressed, but currently, it can be used for the Rohingya migrants as they are also oppressed and persecuted by their government," he added.

Abdul Rahman told this to reporters after when met after becoming a member of the panel at the 2015 national-level conference on Tithe In Development organised by Universiti Malaysia Pahang, Monday.
