Scheduled water rationing until end of March in Johor
The scheduled water rationing is expected to go on until the end of March in four Johor districts until water levels in the related dams stabilise.
State Works, Rural and Regional Development Committee chairman Datuk Ir Hasni Mohammad said although the rains have started normal supply could not be resumed until levels stabilise at eight water treatment plants which obtain their source from the nearby rivers.
"Generally the water level at the plants have increased today and they're operating as usual. But we just need a little time, the latest by March 31 to stabilise the situation," he told reporters, Sunday.
Hasni said the locations still affected by the rationing were several areas in Kluang, Mersing, Kota Tinggi and Kulaijaya.
The water shortage started early last month due to the decreasing levels in the dams following a prolonged dry spell nationwide.
