Seven die in lorry-van accident near Senai

Seven people were killed including three women in a factory van-lorry accident at Kampung Seelong Jaya, near Senai here this morning.
According to the Fire and Rescue Department Bandar Putra spokesperson, Norarasyil Azim Norahmat, the accident happened at around 6am this morning.
They were contacted at 6.16 am.
Meanwhile, Kulai police chief Superintendent Razak Md Said in a statement comfirmed that those who died at the location are R. Shanmugam (van driver), 27, Julasri Jahual, 26, Nur Hakim Bassal, 25, Lumi Anak Deyo, 30, Florina Anak Tihong, 24 and Rafidah Zul, 27.
He added, Norsaila Mohd Nor, 32, died at the Kulai Hospital.
While those injured are Abdul Roni Awang (lorry driver), 41, who is receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital and Victoria Anak Iring, 21, who is receiving treatment at Kulai Hospital.
“Police investigation found that the collision happened when the van driver could not control the vehicle during a turn and the vehicle then travelled on the opposite lane.”
