KUALA LUMPUR:Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Parliament and Law), Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan today informed that several Dewan Negara staff in Parliament have been confirmed positive for COVID-19.
As a result of this, the Kota Bharu Member of Parliament said some members of the Senate may be infected with the epidemic.
"This is because they are close contacts to members of the Senate and have family ties.
"I think the members have got an explanation from the whip leaders of their respective parties regarding the duration of the sitting," he said at the Dewan Rakyat, here on Monday.
He said this when proposing a motion to adjourn the Third Meeting, Third Term of the 14th Parliament today until 1 p.m.
