Situation improves in flood-stricken Baling

The number of flood evacuees in this district dropped to 178 early today from 680 overnight, according to the Baling Welfare Department.

Its officer, Syamsul Izrin Isahak, said the evacuees were being housed at six relief centres, namely the Gua Reban children's nursery, Charok Sikin community hall, Banggol Derum community hall, Batu 42 Youth and Sports complex, Batu 48 community hall and Bukit Terabak community hall.

He said many evacuees returned to their homes in the nearby villages after the level of Sungai Ketil receded and the weather improved.
