Solution to violence and extremist ideologies lies in Islam - Najib

The solution to the violence and extremist ideologies that have caused the death of many Muslims, lies in Islam, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak.

"Every day, a lot of violence happens in the Islamic world and it is really heartbreaking to see so many Muslims die at the hands of other Muslims.

"Coupled with the rise of extremism, these have caused a negative perception towards Islam and Islamophobia," he said in a post today on his Twitter and Facebook accounts.

Najib said during Prophet Muhammad's time, Islam coexisted with other religions without any dispute.

"This can be used as a basis to promote the common core values among followers of different religions," he said.

Najib said he believed that the solution to all problems could be found in Islam itself because Islam was a religion that taught moderation.
