SOP review for public exams timely - Dr Subramaniam
DR SUBRAMANIAM: No human is perfect, the only thing we can perfect is the system.
MIC deputy president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam supports the education ministry's decision to review the standard operating procedures for public examinations, following the leakage in examination papers for this year's Primary School Achievement Test (UPSR).
He said it was about time to look into the weaknesses which created the problem by perfecting the entire system "as it is not the first time such an incident had occurred in the country".
"We need to make the examination system reliable by involving a perfect system because it is not easy to get perfect human beings," he told reporters after officiating the 49th Malaysian Hindu Youth Council delegates meeting here Sunday.
On Sept 18, Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh announced that eight members of the independent panel, chaired by former chief justice Tun Zaki Tun Azmi, would make recommendations for improvement, in terms of operations, manpower and management.
The recommendations will be submitted in three months or earlier.
On the same issue, Dr Subramaniam, who is also health minister, said it was not right to have a tendency to look at the racial perspective in the examination paper leakages.
