Source refutes Tun Mahathir's claim of Pandikar's resignation
A source close to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, has today denied rumours of his resignation.
A source close to Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, has today dispelled rumours that he has resigned as the Dewan Rakyat Speaker.
The source expressed his surprise when he had been bombarded with a series of queries from the Press members seeking clarification about the matter.
Pandikar will be attending the upcoming Parliament session on Monday, the source disclosed.
Pandikar's alleged resignation was also denied by Dewan Rakyat’s deputy speaker, Datuk Ronald Kiandee, in a report from the Star online stated that news of the former's resignation has been a recurring speculation since the last parliamentary session on April 9.
Ronald was quoted saying that the news was mere speculation as he had only met Pandikar a few days ago and the latter did not reveal anything to him.
Meanwhile, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim also denied the claim.
Shahidan told The Malaysian Insider that he would have been informed of the matter if it was true and the secretary to the parliament had told him that no letter of resignation had been submitted, to date.
Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on Saturday revealed that Pandikar has resigned as speaker of the Dewan Rakyat.
Dr Mahathir said Pandikar told him that he can’t go on anymore and his job now will be taken over by his deputy.
