Statements recorded from family members of the abused boy

Police have recorded statements from the grandmother and parents of the three-year-old boy who died at his home in Semenyih near here on Thursday.

Kajang ACP Ab Rashid Ab Wahab told Bernama the statements were recorded last night to facilitate investigations under Section 31 (1) Child Act 2001.

"Police also quizzed the in-laws of the boy's father today.

"We also recorded statements from the two policemen who went to the boy's house to investigate the case after a report was received on the boy's death," he said.

Police yesterday had classified the case as child abuse following the post-mortem done at the Serdang Hospital indicating the child had been a victim of abuse.

The post-mortem found the boy died due to blunt trauma to the head besides injuries in his chest, hands and cane marks on his legs.

His mother had found him lifeless when she tried to wake him up to take his bath.
