Selangor deputy police chief, Datuk A.Thaiveegan said following the robbery incident, police managed to track the suspects and four of them were apprehended on the next day. (Feb 19)
“Four of them aged between 16 and 27 were arrested earlier a house in Batu Caves after we received information from public,” said Thaiveegan.
During the arrest also police recovered two motorcycles, four pawn shop receipt and two green vests.
Investigation on the suspects brought police to make another arrest, where they arrested five suspects including two women several days later.
“Three of them have been identified to be involved in the robbery while the rest are believed to be their accomplice. They are still under remand to facilitate police investigation,’ he said.
The stolen necklaces were also recovered and police believed that some of it were taken to several pawn shops in Gombak and Sentul following the discovery of several pawn shop receipt from the suspects.
On Feb 18, two men armed with hammer and parang fled with RM200,000 worth of jewelleries after robbing a jewellery shop at Selayang Baru, located not far from the Selayang Baru Police beat.
In another case, two men were arrested for being involved in a Toyota Hilux pickup truck hijack in Rawang on Feb 19.
During the incident, a restaurant operator in his 50s was robbed by three men at 9pm near his restaurant in Rawang.
It is believed the truck was brought to a car workshop and the number plate was switched before being taken to another location at a housing estate in Buntong, Ipoh.
From a police tip-off, they managed to track down the vehicle and arrested two suspects aged in their 30s at the housing estate on the morning of Feb 23.
The duo is believed to be the buyer of the stolen vehicle and police are still tracing the suspects.
Initial investigation found the car theft gang hailed from Kuala Selangor.
It is believed the gang will strike on pickup truck like Toyota Hilux and selt it to their buyers. Police also believe the gang had been involved in several other Toyota Hilux carjacking and robbery in other areas.
Suspects have been remanded until March 3 to facilitate the investigation.
