The authorities will step up on its rigorous inspection of express and tourist buses following a number of accidents involving such vehicles lately, said Deputy Transport Minister, Datuk Ab Aziz Kaprawi.
He said the ministry will also conduct random checks at bus terminals as well as by station enforcement officers in accident prone areas.
"The Ministry will be holding a meeting tomorrow with the relevant agencies to discuss further actions," he told BERNAMA.
The agencies involved include the Road Transport Department and Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).
Aziz was commenting on the three bus crashes last week with the latest one on Sunday involving an express bus from Pulau Redang to Singapore, which skidded and plunged into a ravine killing one Singaporean tourist.
