The suspect who shot dead a Ambank officer in a robbery-cum-murder case at the bank's Subang Jaya branch last Wednesday is believed to be still in the country, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Zinin.

He said a special taskforce had been set up to track down the suspect.

"The taskforce is assisted by other departments at Bukit Aman and we will ensure this matter is resolved as soon as possible," he told reporters after the end of training parade by cadet inspectors at the Police Training Centre Saturday.

Norazita Abu Talib, 37, was shot on the face by a security guard at the bank after she had opened the strong room at the bank at Jalan USJ Central 2, Subang Jaya.

Yesterday, police had detained two men and a woman, believed to be the suspect's wife, and recovered more than RM20,000 of the RM450,000 robbed from the bank.

To prevent a similar incident, Mohd Bakri said the police would assist the Home Ministry in conducting screening of security guards at all security firms.

On the RM8.8 billion allocated to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), as tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the 2014 Budget yesterday, Mohd Bakri said it would make a huge impact on the police force in terms of infrastructure and assets towards improving its service to the people.

He said the allocation included RM200 million for equipment, like firearms, bullet-proof jackets, narcotic detector, biometric system and forensic vehicles.
