A three-year-old toddler has been reported missing near a rubber farm at Kampung Selagon here, since Friday morning.
District police chief DSP Mustaffa Maarof Mustaffa said Mohd Shariqal Sidek was last seen playing with his two brothers outside their home around 6.30 am.
"Police received a report around 1 pm Friday and informed the Fire and Rescue Department and Civil Defence Department, for assistance in the search and rescue operation," he told a press conference here on Saturday.
Mustaffa Maarof said the operation covering 39 hectares was temporarly halted at 6.30 pm last night and resumed at 7 am today.
The boy's mother, Saminie Rawel, 24, only realised her son's disappearance at 7 am Friday and sought the help of neighbours to look for the boy, who was barefooted and wearing only a short sleeve shirt and white short pants.
Meanwhile, Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun, who is also Beaufort member of parliament visited the victim's family today.
She also reminded parents to constantly be aware of their children's movements, to avoid unfavourable incidents.
