Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has urged the people here to maintain the spirit of cooperation and compromise that exists among them.
He also said the tolerance and understanding shown by the communities of diverse ethnic groups towards one another had enabled the government to bring development to the state.
"Such attitude is the key to unity, which would ensure that peace prevails in the country for it to progress," he said at the presentation of Chinese New Year contributions to 700 senior citizens here today.
He said the people would also not be able to improve their economic status through the various government assistance if the country was in a state of unrest.
