Traffic volume expected to increase in the afternoon
Traffic volume along the main highways in the peninsula is expected to further increase in the afternoon with the re-opening of the school session after a two weeks' break.
A Malaysian Highway Authority spokesman said traffic flow until 9.30am today was smooth although there were more vehicles than usual on the highways in the east and west coasts of the peninsula.
"While many people are returning home after enjoying the two-week school holidays, the traffic situation along the North-South Expressway and in the Klang Valley is under control," he said when contacted today.
Meanwhile, a Malaysian Meteorological Department spokesman said there would be rain in the evening, especially in the interior areas of the peninsula.
