KUALA LUMPUR:Two statesmen, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah today appealed to Members of the Dewan Rakyat to reject the Third Reading of the Supply (Budget) Bill 2021 scheduled for tomorrow.

In a joint press conference today, they said, with the rejection of the Supply Bill, it could be translated as a rejection to the Perikatan Nasional (PN) Government led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was deemed weak and do not care about the people.

Dr Mahathir, who is also Langkawi MP, said they both hoped that the current Government could be rejected, and replaced with a stronger Government for the future of the country.

"There is a possibility that tomorrow, when they (Members of the Dewan Rakyat) vote for the third reading of the bill, then there is a possibility that the Government will fall.

"I hope those in the Dewan Rakyat can stop thinking about themselves, but start thinking about the country. We see that this government does not have the motivation to help the people, but only thinks of what they can get," said Dr Mahathir,

Dr Mahathir also hopes that Dewan Rakyat members can be honest and express their feelings of love and affection for the country.

At the press conference, Dr Mahathir and UMNO's advisory board chairman, Tengku Razaleigh, better known as Ku Li, hoped that Malaysia's glorious status as an 'Asian Tiger' economic power could be restored.

He also said that they want this country to be on the right track to becoming a respected country, thus ensuring a brighter future for the next generation.

"We are discussing to find a way for our country to become a developed country again. We are aware that at this time our country is facing many problems, and the whole government system is not working well.

“The Government (Perikatan Nasional) has the advantage of only two votes. All these politicians in Malaysia are only (focused) on politics, to determine their positions. Most of them just look at their job to earn a good income," he added.
