Twitter : Chaos at ATM as recipients withdraw BR1M aid

Social media site Twitter on Saturday was flooded with comments of crowds of people in banks across the country.
These comments was widely spread shortly after the announcement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) 2014 on Saturday morning.
Najib said in order for the BR1M 2014 package to be implemented, the government has allocated RM4.6 billion to benefit 7.9 million recipients.
Following the announcement, droves of BR1M recipients raided ATM machines in banks across the country.
Among others, Twitter users also complained about the long queue at the ATM machines.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that under BR1M 2014, households of RM3,000 or under will receive RM700, an increase from RM500.
The cash aid will consist of RM650 while an additional RM50 will be contributed to an insurance programme, Group Takaful Rakyat 1Malaysia (i-BR1M).
As for single individuals aged 21-years-old and above earning an income of less than RM2,000 a month, the aid was increased from RM250 to RM300.
In addition, BR1M has also been extended to households with a monthly income of RM3,000 and RM4,000 with the aid of RM450.
Under i-BR1M insurance scheme, recipients will be entitled for coverage of up to RM1000 in the event of natural death and a maximum of RM30,000 in the event of death caused by accident or permanent disability.
