KUALA LUMPUR:To ensure that the agenda in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and to help the people who are in distress, UMNO announces the need for a political ceasefire.
UMNO President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, the party also at the same time took a stand to support the Perikatan Nasional (PN) on the agenda to help the people and the country face COVID-19 as well as the economic downturn.
He said, UMNO also directed all party leaders in the Cabinet to focus fully on efforts to help and alleviate the burden borne by the people due to the economic impact and the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Cooperation of all parties in the Perikatan Nasional government should be strengthened to ensure political stability as the country faces the threat of COVID-19 and economic uncertainty," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Recently, a letter was signed by Zahid and supported by Pekan Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who supported Port Dickson Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the ninth Prime Minister.
