Two teachers will be charged at the Seremban Sessions Court tomorrow for their alleged involvement in the leaked Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) 2014 question papers scandal recently.
The duo will be charged under Section 28(3) of the Malaysian Examinations Council Act 1980 (Act 225) at 2pm.
The charges carry a punishment of a fine not more than RM10,000 or a maximum three years’ imprisonment, or both, upon conviction.
Kuala Lumpur Deputy CID chief, Asst Comm Khairi Ahrasa confirmed the matter when contacted.
“The two teachers will be charged for their involvement in the recently leaked UPSR papers,” he said in a text message to Astro AWANI.
Last Sept 17 and 18, three teachers including a woman was detained in Negeri Sembilan to assist investigation pertaining to the leaked Science, English Language and Mathematics question papers.
One 34-year-old male teacher was detained in Seremban while another male teacher, 36, was held in Mantin.
The 24-year-old female teacher was detained in Labu.
The police also seized their communication tools and devices.
The scandal had caused Year Six pupils nationwide to re-sit the Science, Mathematics, English Language and Tamil Language papers.
A total of 472,853 pupils sat for the UPSR this year.
