The Sarawak state government has tried its best to help Sarawakian Kho Jabing, who is set to be executed by Singapore’s prison authorities next Friday, said Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
He said he had written to Singapore's Ambassador to Malaysia and that the federal government also did its best to appeal to the Singapore authorities.
"We have tried the best we can but it has failed... there is nothing more we can do," he told a press conference after announcing his Cabinet line-up following Saturday's 11th Sarawak state election at the State Legislative Building here today.
Kho, 31, from Ulu Baram, Sarawak, was found guilty of killing a Chinese construction worker with a tree branch in 2008 during a robbery attempt. He was sentenced to death in 2010.
It was reported today that Kho's sister, Jumai Kho said the family received a letter two days ago from Singapore that notified them of the scheduled execution.
