Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 cabin crew Shaikh Mohd Noor Mahmood was supposed to be on flight MH370, which disappeared enroute to Beijing last March 8 and is still missing, but a twist of fate put him on a different flight on that fateful day.

What came to his mind when told about the missing MH370 was how fortunate were the passengers onboard because the whole world sympathised with them and prayed for them.

Following the incident which befell MH370, Shaikh Mohd Noor told his colleagues that he wished of death during a flight so that the whole world would also pray and offer him the Al-Fatihah.

This was related to Bernama by his colleagues, Mohd Fahmi Ariffin and Mohd Yazid Yusuf, both 39.

"Although sad, I feel that his wish to die in an aircraft and to get the whole world to read him the Al-Fatihah had been fulfilled," said Mohd Yazid when met at the ceremony to pay last respects to MH17 victims at the Bunga Raya Complex of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport here today.

Shaikh Mohd Noor, known as 'Mad Noor' among family members, was among 283 passengers and 15 crew on board MH17 which crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17 as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

Mohd Yazid described Shaikh Mohd Noor as a quiet and caring person.

After the ceremony, Mohd Fahmi and Mohd Yazid left for Klang to attend Shaikh Mohd Noor's funeral at the Sungai Jati cemetery in Kampung Jawa.

Some of Shaikh Mohd Noor's family members were seen wearing a black T-shirt with words "In our heart cabin crew Shaikh Mohd Noor 17.07.17." written on it.

The Boeing 777-200 aircraft is believed to have been shot down over the troubled country.

Meanwhile, Mohd Fahmi said he had lost a good friend with Shaikh Mohd Noor's passing.
