Ladies, lets talk about fashion

I believe one of the things women enjoy doing whilst being single is to dress up without having to pause and think if “le petit ami” aka "the boyfriend would prefer me in a pair of jeans or a feminine dress".

Face it: we have more liberty to explore what makes us tick and feel wonderful about ourselves.

I'm never a good reference to say ‘what’s in’ this season (denim?) because I hardly pay attention to fashion magazines or fashion related news or TV shows. My only source of inspiration for my daily dose of fashion pointers come from a few ‘Instagrammers’ who happen to be fashion bloggers — the new trendsetters who are bold enough to carry their own sense of styles.

But even then, I follow their updates mainly because they upload really nice pictures from my favourite cities.

Whenever I pick up a magazine, my preference will be Fortune, Forbes, Bloomberg Newsweek, Inc. or Entrepreneur, because I know I will learn a lot more.

On Twitter, I opted to follow Canadian-American business magnate, Elon Musk than Colombian fashion journalist and critic Nina Garcia; on Facebook, I “liked” a number of fashion brands but I hardly spend time reading updates from those brands.

Does it mean I do not want to look good? Far from it. I want to look and feel good, but I do not consume fashion content as if they represent the holy grail of beauty.

I go by the rule of scouring for outfits that would make me feel comfortable and wildly confident. Wearing the right clothes plays a huge part in how we feel.

Among the fashion staples in my wardrobe include: body-con dress (of which I always complement with a pair of black or dark brown opaque tights), basic top with skinny jeans (love the combination!), blazers (for corporate social settings and meetings), bikers jacket (it never fails to add coolness to any outfits), denim jacket (a timeless piece that never gets old), boots and the occasional maxi dress (oh my, this comes with great slimming effect).

Boots, you say? Why, yes! I own several pairs of them! It is one of the more practical yet stylish footwear that I have been obsessed with for the past year.

My pair of black ankle boots have been a versatile companion to most occasions, especially when I am running around busying with content production. Thanks to the industry I'm in, most people have more room to experiment with their own style aside from looking corporate chic on a daily basis.

Like every other things, our sense of style evolves over time. I believe that whatever your style is, you shouldn’t have to change to fit into the ideal of others. Own your look. With great confidence, who knows? You might just captivate that gentleman's heart.
