KUALA LUMPUR:Barisan Nasional (BN) hopes that the two main things it proposed can be raised by the Finance Minister in his winding up session of the Supply Bill 2021 this Thursday.
This was explained by UMNO Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan after the BN Ministerial Meeting with the UMNO president at the UMNO Headquarters here on Monday.
He said, BN has expressed its conditional support for the 2021 Budget.
"Is the support for the 2021 Budget by BN also discussed? Yes, that was discussed and regarding the 2021 Budget, of course we are still saying that we support the Budget.
"Our support is also requesting that two major requests (moratorium and EPF withdrawal of RM10,000 on a one-off basis) be approved and we have a few more days to be considered by the Finance Minister," he explained.
On November 10, the BN Chairman who is also the Member of Parliament for Bagan Datuk, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in the Dewan Rakyat session, among others, expressed BN's conditional support for the 2021 Budget.
Two main things have been brought in, namely asking the government to approve the withdrawal of RM10,000 from the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) on a 'one-off' basis and for the moratorium to be extended until 30 June 2021.
In a related development, Ahmad Maslan also stated that the BN Ministerial Meeting with the BN Chairman will be held every two weeks after this.
"We will hold a meeting with the BN ministers and the BN president once every two weeks, and that is the decision made just now.
"Every two weeks, the president and I will meet with the BN ministers to discuss government policies that can provide input from the party to the BN ministers," he added.
