Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad today confirmed that he will continue to push for a motion of a vote of no confidence against Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The Langkawi MP insisted Muhyiddin had made his own decision without informing or agreeing with the party.
“The current Prime Minister has made a promise to topple the government of Datuk Seri Najib Razak. He changed his position without referring to the party, without making a decision from the party.
“Although there is a proposal for Bersatu (Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia) to withdraw from Pakatan Harapan (PH), it has never been discussed in the Supreme Council on cooperation with the Perikatan Nasional.
"He (Muhyiddin) only does as he wishes, so we have no confidence in the president of Bersatu," he said in a press conference at his office here today.
Asked if he had a majority to pursue the motion, Dr Mahathir said it was not a matter of focus.
“About this majority, it is not something that will not change. This is the first time we have a government with a very thin majority.
“The previous government had two-thirds majority. If we are able to expose the government's wrongdoing, it may be that some from the government (PN) will support it.
"But if we don't submit it, of course no one will know why the proposal was submitted. This is my right as a Member of Parliament. I have the right to propose a motion to the government,” he said.
Dr Mahathir at the same time confirmed that he would not collect the affidavit in support of the motion of no confidence vote.
