Dr Mahathir's action a negative movement to ruin UMNO - Ahmad Bashah

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah slammed Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's action for calling on UMNO branches to move no confidence motions against Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's leadership.

He said the open letter written on the former UMNO president's blog, Chedet.cc, is a negative movement aimed at ruining UMNO's image.

Ahmad Bashah who is also the Kedah UMNO Liaison chief, said all branch leaders should monitor this negative movement as usually it would come from inside the party.

"The open letter in his (Dr Mahathir) Facebook page calls for a no confidence motion, and that is negative movement which can damage the party.

"The Division, Youth and Wanita committee should see if there are any members trying to do so," he said after officiating the Kuala Kedah UMNO meeting on Sunday.

Commenting on the preparations for the 14th general election, he said UMNO Kedah will provide a monthly allocation of RM315,000 to all divisions throughout the state as administrative expenditure starting this month.

He said the state liaison committee will continue to distribute the fund up until the next general election to enure that every programme would run smoothly.
