The issue of 'Yes Men' in the Cabinet does not arise as there are those who have voiced the opinion against several government policies, said Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan.
Still the UMNO MT member said, a Cabinet member is required to support the aspirations of the Prime Minister and the government.
Abdul Rahman, who is Barisan Nasional (BN) strategic communication director said, if any Cabinet member does not agree with the policies implemented, they are free to resign from their post or can be dismissed, a practiced in any other democratic country.
“If we don’t agree, we can resign from the Cabinet and criticise the policy from a far. This is normal in democratic countries the world over,” he told reporters after officiating the Tuaran UMNO delegates’ meeting today.
The Tuaran UMNO deputy chief stressed that loyalty is the key factor that has led to the UMNO’s strength as a party.
Yesterday UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Razak stressed that he is not a president who wants ‘Yes Men’ in the party.
He said, if all UMNO members consisted only of ‘Yes Men’, then there will not be any contradicting and different opinions.
Najib added, all party leaders are free to exchange their opinions, however they are required to adhere to any decision made by the party.
