Khairy denies being pressured to support Najib
KHAIRY: I was at the meeting and nothing happened.
UMNO Youth chief, Khairy Jamaluddin has denied he had been pressured to make a stand on whether or not he supports Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s leadership.
There were allegations that four UMNO Youth Excos had asked Khairy to declare his stand at the wing’s meeting on Tuesday.
“I was at the meeting and nothing happened,” he told reporters in Putrajaya today.
News reports published previously had claimed that a pro-Najib group in the wing had demanded Khairy to make a stand on whether he supported the prime minister or not.
Meanwhile Khairy refused to comment of the statement made by UMNO Deputy President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who had expressed his gratitude to the UMNO Youth wing for voicing out their opinion on matters regarding the country.
“That is his (Muhyiddin) prerogative to voice out his opinion,” Khairy said.
Muhyiddin had said he respected and appreciated the views Khairy had expressed based on Islamic principles of truth and justice.
He had also expressed his gratitude on the support he had received from Khairy to him as the UMNO Deputy President.
