UMNO president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak stressed that the Malays need to unite with UMNO to uphold the dignity of the race.

"The past has gone and the missed opportunities will not return. We cannot squander the opportunities for the sake of our grandchildren and descendants.

"Losing a limb is not a bad as losing dignity and our beloved UMNO as it means losing everything," he said winding up debate on the president's address at the end of UMNO General Assembly 2016 at Dewan Merdeka, Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here today.

The prime minister said the Malays must unite for the sake of the Muslims and the glory of the country.

"In the effort to make the Malays glorious, let us unite for the sake of UMNO, Islam, and Malaysia. We have to persevere, despite the many obstacles and challenges."

Datuk Seri Najib then chanted the words 'Hidup UMNO, Hidup Barisan and Hidup Malaysia' which were greeted in unison by the delegates present. -Bernama
