MIC acting president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam urged all party members to accept the Registrar of Societies' (RoS) decision on resolving the crisis the party is facing.

He said party members and leaders including Datuk Seri G.Palanivel have to accept RoS' decision and cooperate with MIC's Interim 2009 Central Working Committee (CWC) to solve the crisis.

"I hope all the party members will accept the current situation and I will do my part as ordered by RoS," he told Bernama when contacted.

According to Dr Subramaniam, RoS in a letter dated Thursday addressed to the CWC 2009 stated that Palanivel was no more a member of the MIC as per Article 91 of the MIC constitution.

Dr Subramaniam said according to the letter, RoS also recognised him as acting president to lead the CWC 2009 to conduct the party re-election.

Dr Subramaniam, who is also Heath Minister, promised that he would make sure the re-election would be held smoothly following all the rules and regulations.

He pointed out that the MIC re-election would start next month with branch chairman elections.

The nominations for the branch chairman would be on July 10, 11 and 12, followed by the branch elections, a week after.

Dr Subramaniam said he hoped the re-election process for all the posts would finish by end of October.

When asked to comment on Palanivel's current standing, Dr Subramaniam said: "All that has happened are according to the rule and there is no jealousy or personal problems.

Meanwhile, Palanivel's ally Datuk S. Sothinathan said this was RoS' finding but "we will stick to our interpretation and our original application."

"If RoS feels that they have a say, we also have the right to seek justice. We will seek justice from the courts. If need be, we will go right up to the Federal Court and challenge it (ROS's decision). We will pursue to the end," he told reporters after attending the Emergency CWC 2009 meeting at a hotel in Putrajaya, Thursday.

The MIC crisis erupted following differences in opinion between Palanivel and Dr Subramaniam following a notice issued by the RoS last Dec 5 directing the party to hold fresh elections for the three vice-presidential and 23 CWC posts.

The RoS had nullified the elections held in November 2013 following complaints of irregularities.
