KUALA LUMPUR:UMNO has been asked by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to explain the details of the new conditions laid down in relation to the party's cooperation with the Perikatan Nasional government (PN) through an official letter.

UMNO secretary-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the PN chairman had conveyed the request through the secretary-general of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin on Thursday.

However, according to Ahmad, the request will only be fulfilled by UMNO after the party's Supreme Council meeting on Tuesday.

“The Prime Minister through Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin has asked us to send a letter to him as the Chairman of PN (regarding) what was discussed in a recent video conference.

"I would like to defer this letter until the conclusion of the Supreme Council meeting on Tuesday," he told reporters in Benut, here on Friday.

The UMNO Supreme Council was supposed to hold a meeting via video conference tomorrow. However, it was postponed until Tuesday as all members wanted to meet and have a live discussion.

Accordingly, the meeting will be held on Tuesday at a location outside the Conditional Movement Control Order (PKPB) area.

In a video conference with Muhyiddin on Wednesday night, Ahmad and UMNO Treasurer, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor had touched on the issue of new agreements or conditions that needed improvement in the political understanding between UMNO and PN.

Ahmad on Tuesday informed that UMNO has set new conditions to continue its political cooperation with the PN government.

UMNO also announced that the party was considering withdrawing from supporting PN.
