Naming Azmin Ali as the Selangor MB candidate is a right move, says IDEAS's Wan Saiful

PAS’s decision to name PKR deputy president Mohamad Azmin Ali as a Selangor Menteri Besar candidate is a right move, said IDEAS chief executive officer Wan Saiful Wan Jan.

“Azmin would have been a better choice as if Wan Azizah becomes the Selangor MB, a lot of questions would arise,” he said when contacted by Astro AWANI today.

He said, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the PKR’s president, could prove her worth as the new Selangor MB but being the Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s wife, people would think of her ‘just a puppet’.

Commenting further, he said PAS’s announcement came as no surprise as the party had no other choice but to back its allies’ choice.

PAS today named two candidates for the Selangor Menteri Besar position – Dr Wan Azizah and Azmin after Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim was sacked from the PKR on Aug 9.

On July 22, PKR had named Dr Wan Azizah as the a candidate for the Selangor MB. DAP had also endorsed her for the position.
