PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali today stressed that no matter what was the outcome of the PAS party polls and regardless of who wins, the Islamic party will not pull out of the Pakatan Rakyat pact.

"Statements from certain people does not reflect the true picture in PAS," he said at a press conference held at the party headquarters today.

He said even if there were emergency motions tabled at the PAS muktamar, it is not easy for the Islamic party to simply walk away from the PR.

“Decisions cannot be made just like that. Syura Council must meet and discuss,” he said, stressing that PAS will not abandon PR.

“We will not destroy what we have built ourselves,” Mustafa stressed adding that there is no pro-Pakatan Rakyat or anti-Pakatan Rakyat faction in PAS.

Asked what will be the fate of RR if Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang returns as party president as DAP had said it will not work with him, Mustafa said it was not PAS’s problem.

Party elections will be held during the PAS Muktamar from June 4 to 6 at Kuala Selangor stadium.

This will also be the first time Abdul Hadi is challenged since he held the position, 12 years ago. The last time PAS president position was challenged was 55 years ago, during the fifth PAS Muktamar.
