Opposition leaders condemn PAS indirectly at Pakatan Harapan convention

Several opposition leaders condemned PAS at the Pakatan Harapan's Convention here on Saturday.
Although the PKR-DAP-Amanah pact leaders did not mention directly the name of the Islamic party, it was obvious their speeches were implicating PAS as the party had been viewed as not wanting to cooperate with them.
DAP Socialist Youth chief Wong Kah Woh criticised the party whose several leaders abstained from voting to oppose the passing of the Supply Bill 2017 at the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.
"We should ignore the party that doesn't want to join (to vote) against the budget," he said in his speech.
The Dewan Rakyat passed the Bill at the policy level through bloc voting with 117 Members of Parliament voting in favour, 70 against, while 11 others abstained.
Amanah youth representative Asim Abdullah Ainullotfi described the weakness of Pakatan Rakyat - comprising PAS, PKR and DAP - was due to several leaders who used religion for their own mileage.
"I'm disappointed to see Pakatan Rakyat go down the drain as there are leaders who didn't have common understanding. The then opposition leaders didn't walk the talk, didn't want to continue the fight and manipulated religion for their own mileage," he said.
Earlier, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who was also invited to speak at the convention, labelled any quarters who did not want to join and support the Pakatan Harapan as "dedak" (chicken feed) eaters and supporting Barisan Nasional (BN).
However, Dr Mahathir did not name the parties involved.
It was reported before this that PAS deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man had been quoted as saying the party would not join the Pakatan Harapan as long as DAP continued to fight against the Muslims' rights, especially pertaining to the Amendments to Act 355. -- BERNAMA
