Pas has confidence in Tabung Haji management - Takiyuddin

Pas secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the party has confidence in the Tabung Haji (TH) management which is not only syariah compliant, but also generate good income for the depositors.

"Tabung Haji is not a bank which operates as a financial institution that is oriented towards maximising profit as against returns for depositors," he said in a statement here, today.

Takiyuddin was satisfied with the explanation given by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir whom he had met in parliament yesterday and that given by top TH officials on the financial performance.

They confirmed that the TH financial performance was good, especially when taking into account the total asset value and the investment portfolio.

He said what is more important is the TH guarantee that the 2015 bonus for depositors will be declared and distributed in the near future.

Pas hopes TH will continue to be committed in ensuring that the depositors get to perform the haj pilgrimage.

Comments made by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) to TH should not jeopardise the confidence of depositors towards the organisation, he added.
