PAS and its ally Parti Ikatan Bangsa Malaysia (Ikatan) announced that Gagasan Sejahtera will be the official name of their political cooperation.
PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said this loose coalition, which will be known as Gagasan would offer an alternative choice to the people in the current political landscape.
"Therefore, the people need not be limited to picking between the two current coalitions," said Abdul Hadi.
He added that Gagasan would not subscribe to hate politics but offer solutions to the problems facing the people.
"We practice mature politics that are based on facts and not based on perception only," he said at a press conference at the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday.
Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility of working together with the new party founded by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Abdul Hadi retorted that it was too early to discuss it at this stage.
"The party is not even officially registered yet. We will wait and see," said Abdul Hadi.
However, he did not dismiss the possibility of working together with anyone, as long as its in line with Gagasan's ideals and political stand.
Also present during the press conference were the two parties top echelons, including Ikatan President Tan Sri Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir.
On March 16, PAS formed a political alliance with Ikatan, making it the third political force in the country.

Abdul Hadi had said then that the new Opposition block embraces a moderate principle and approach and will fight along Islamic values.
