PAS is adamant in their stand to retain Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as the Selangor Menteri Besar even though PKR has a mind of their own on the matter with the possibility of dismissing him from the party.
A source from PAS said Abdul Khalid’s position as the Selangor Menteri Besar will not be affected if he is dismissed from PKR, and this has made PAS’ stand on the matter, stronger.
“Only a vote of no confidence from the state assemblymen in a state assembly seating will force Abdul Khalid from relinquishing his position.
“If dismissed from the party, his position will not be affected and he can continue his job as the Selangor Menteri Besar until there is a vote of no confidence from the majority of state assemblymen,” the source told Astro AWANI.
Meanwhile, Kota Baharu MP, Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan told Astro AWANI according to Article 53 clause 6, of the state Constitution, if a vote of no confidence is made, Abdul Khalid has two options.
“Firstly, Abdul Khalid and his exco members have to resign.
“Secondly, Abdul Khalid, as the Menteri Besar, could advice the Selangor Sultan to dissolve the state assembly,” he said.
PAS political analysis, Mohd Sayuti Omar, on the other hand, said if Abdul Khalid is a leader with integrity, he has to advise the Sultan to dissolve the state assembly, before a vote of no confidence can be made.
He said if Abdul Khalid only seeks an audience with the Sultan to dissolve the state assembly only after a vote of no confidence, many parties will question him.
PAS’s central committee will convene on August 10 to discuss PKR’s move to name its president Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the possible candidate to replace Abdul Khalid.
