Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim has been told to show proof of his claims that he had garnered majority support from state assemblymen as told to the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on Monday morning.
According to a joint statement by Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s secretary-general, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Selangor DAP chairman Tony Pua, Keadilan and DAP took note of the statement given by Abdul Khalid after having an audience with the Sultan, stating that he will remain as the state’s MB after garnering majority support from Selangor assemblymen.
“Keadilan and DAP have publicly announced that Abdul Khalid had no longer received the support of both parties as the state’s MB.
“This means that Abdul Khalid has lost the confidence of 28 state assemblymen that constitutes half of the total of Selangor assemblymen.
“PAS has not decided on on its support towards Abdul Khalid – and PAS Central Committee will hold its meeting on August 17, 2014,” said the statement.
The statement also highlighted that Abdul Khalid’s statement of the majority support was nothing but doubtful.
With the open rejection by Keadilan and DAP, it also means that Abdul Khalid can only garner majority support if he can secure the support of 12 UMNO state assemblymen
“Abdul Khalid has to call for a State Legislative assembly to hold a vote of confidence or any other way to prove that he has the support of PAS and UMNO assemblymen.
The statement also indicated that Abdul Khalid had claimed that 12 UMNO assemblymen have openly shown their support towards him.
“If the 12 UMNO assemblymen do not support Abdul Khalid, then it’s clear he (Abdul Khalid) has given false information to the Sultan of Selangor.”
