Position of PAS exco in Selangor government intact - Azmin

AZMIN: PKR believes the door is still open for PAS. - Astro AWANI/SHAHIR OMAR
The position of PAS executive councillors (exco) in the Selangor government is intact and there is no change in the state's administration system right now, according to Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.
He said the matter was indeed a non-issue even though there exists a new opposition alliance known as Pakatan Harapan (Coalition of Hope) which was set up with the consent of PKR, DAP and Parti Amanah Negara (PAN).
"The setting up of the new coalition is just a political planning to face the next general election.
"It has nothing to do with PAS and state administration in Selangor," he told reporters after launching 'Wifi Selangorku' initiative here today.
Mohamed Azmin said this in response to the status of PAS exco in the state government following the setting up of the coalition, which will take effect immediately, as announced by PKR President Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail earlier today.
Commenting further, the menteri besar, who is also PKR deputy president, said PAS was always welcomed to join the coalition.
"We are still discussing (the possibility) and have yet to close the door...PKR believes the door is still open for PAS," he said.
Meanwhile, Selangor PAS deputy commissioner Datuk Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi said all exco, including from PAS, were still in the executive council and discharging their duties as usual.
Ahmad Yunus, who is also State Islamic Affairs, Malay Customs and Heritage, Rural and Traditional Village Development Committee chairman, said as of today, there was no necessity to hold any meeting to discuss the position of PAS exco in the state administration.
"The position of all exco from PAS is intact and we are working as usual," he told Bernama when contacted here today.
Besides Ahmad Yunus, two other PAS exco in the Selangor government are Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad and Zaidy Abdul Talib.
