Sarawak election: Internal conflict reflects opposition's greed for seats - Abang Johari

It show the opposition parties would do anything to achieve their political objective, even it meant betraying each other.

PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg said if both parties can betray each other, it would not be impossible for the two parties to betray the people.

"I was drawn by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng's statement that the party felt cheated when the PKR failed to keep its promise. If Guan Eng can feel cheated, the BN would not like to see the people cheated.

They are battling against each other, we don't want the people to be betrayed by them," he told Bernama here.

He said the crisis between PKR and DAP over the seats issue showed the type of leadership in Pakatan Harapan.

"They are not bothered, as long as they achieve something. The morale value is there. What we want to tell Sarawakians is to be careful because if they can betray each other, Sarawakians can be betrayed too," Abang Johari said.

The failure to reach a consensus will see PKR and DAP contesting the same seats at five constituencies, namely Bukit Kitang, Mambong, Ngemah, Simanggang, Murum and Mulu.

PBB senior vice president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan meanwhile, described Pakatan Harapan which comprise DAP, PKR and Amanah as a coalition would not offer any hope for the others in the state.

"Earlier they were known as Pakatan Rakyat comprising DAP, PKR and PAS but that 'marriage' had already seen a divorce. Now, the parties come under Pakatan Harapan (harapan meaning hope) but the people can expect none of it since they are quarrelling against each other," said the Bukit Sari state assemblyman who won the seat uncontested when nominations closed yesterday.

He urged the people of Sarawak to reject such a pack. The people should not be trapped or side tracked by their claim that they were fighting for the people.
