The failure to resolve the overlapping seats issue for the 11th Sarawak election shows cracks and weaknesses in the foundation of the opposition said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Najib who is also the Barisan Nasional chairman said the contest in several seats featuring candidates from PAS, DAP and PKR shows a lack of trust among the opposition parties.
"There are several seats contested by PKR and DAP candidates, there are some seats that feature a clash between PAS and PKR candidates...in Selangor, both parties have formed the government but in a different state they fight among themselves.
"In reality they (opposition parties) do not trust each other. They (opposition parties) are not sincere and do not have a strong foundation," he said in his speech at the 'PM with the election machinery for Tupong' at Dewan Gita, Kampung Pinang Jawa, Petrajaya, here last night.
The Prime Minister said the opposition was only practicing 'Politics of Convenience' and the formation of the opposition was just to deceive the people.
Najib therefore reminded the people of Malaysia and Sarawak to not gamble their future by choosing a party that can only make promises that cannot be fulfilled.
He said the people must realise that only BN has a proven track record.
"We must remain steadfast to a proven track record and a party that can assure stability, progress and harmony in the land of the Hornbills...and that party is none other than Barisan Nasional," he said.
Among those present at the programme were PBB Youth chief Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof who is also the Tupong election director, BN candidate for Tupong, Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, former Tupong assemblyman Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman and members of the Tupong BN election machinery.
Najib said Fazzrudin was the candidate of choice for BN in Tupong to continue the legacy of Daud, a five-term BN assemblyman in Tupong.
"I hope the voters in Sarawak and Tupong especially can ensure a big victory for BN," he said.
