A Selangor state assemblyman lambasted Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali whom he said tended to cancel the efforts of Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim in implementing development projects even though these benefitted the people.

Budiman Mohd Zohdi (BN-Sungai Panjang) said this was obvious in several actions taken by Mohamed Azmin including the re-structuring agreement of the water services industry in Selangor as well as the cancellation of the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex).

"We see a (political) tendency for the current menteri besar to cancel out everything that was agreed upon by the previous menteri besar (Abdul Khalid) involving the water project and Kidex.

"We, BN state assemblymen, are also shocked by the explanation given by the Menteri Besar who cancelled the Kidex project which could disperse traffic and congestion in the Klang Valley," he said in a press conference held at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly lobby, here Friday.

Budiman said the decision to cancel Kidex showed that the state government was not concerned about the suffering of 365,000 road users in the Klang Valley who had to face severe traffic congestion every day.

Mohamed Azmin had previously said the cancellation was because the concessionaires failed to meet three specific conditions set by the state government which were preparing a free traffic impact assessment, social impact assessment and an environmental impact assessment.

Earlier, when replying to a question from Dr Abdul Rani Osman (PAS-Meru) at the state assembly sitting, Mohamed Azmin said the state government had never divulged the Kidex project concession agreement signed by the concession company and the Works Ministry even though there had been many requests for it.

In a separate development, replying to a question from Rodziah Ismail (PKR-Batu Tiga), Mohamed Azmin said the state government was no longer applying the tender policy of lowest price as was the practice before as it did not benefit the state government even though it could save as much as RM100 million.

Instead, he said, since January this year, the state government was following a policy of procurement assessment through a cut-off system.
