Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said he had acted within his legal means in his sacking of five state executive councillors (exco) from PKR and DAP yesterday.

He said the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had given his consent to terminate the appointment of the exco members, within two hours of his submission to the palace on the matter.

"The Selangor Sultan gave his consent to terminate the appointment of the excos on the advice of the Menteri Besar in writing," he said in a statement released after chairing the state exco meeting today.

The state exco meeting was attended by four PAS exco members and three Ex-Officio officers, fulfilling the requirement under Article 53 (2)(b) of the Selangor State Constitution to have at least four exco members legally run a state administration.

"We believe the five (sacked) exco members cannot continue their service after they had issued a joint statement stating they do not want to have anything to do with me and only want to attend the state exco meetings to observe the state administration and to champion their party's causes," he said.

Abdul Khalid said the sacked exco members' statements were clearly against the 10 oaths they had undertook in front of the Selangor Sultan during their swearing-in.

"I hope the people of Selangor will not be confused with the termination as it was done in accordance with the law," he added.

Abdul Khalid had on Tuesday announced the sacking of three DAP exco, Datuk Teng Chang Kim, V. Ganabatirau and Ean Yong Hian Wah together with two PKR exco, Elizabeth Wong and Dr Daroyah Alwi.

On the status of another PKR exco, Rodziah Ismail, Abdul Khalid said he will meet the Batu Tiga state assemblyman after she returns from overseas.

"I will talk to her and find out if she wants to be with my administration or follow her comrades. I will announce the decision later," he said.

He also called on Selangorians to remain calm as the state administration will run as per normal.
