The Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) is ready to consider amending the party constitution to give space to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to join the party.

Permanent Chairman Datuk Liew Vui Keong said the former prime minister's participation in Warisan was possible.

However, he said, for that to happen, the party's constitution needs to be amended first.

“I think the possibility is there. So far, the Parti Warisan Sabah is only focused on the state of Sabah but the constitution can be changed to make it the Parti Warisan Malaysia.

"But this requires a change to the party constitution. So, this is in the process and after that we leave it to anyone if we have established the Parti Warisan Malaysia to be with us in our struggle.

"I think it is possible for other MPs who do not yet have a platform and if they want to join the Warisan struggle, I think we can consider," he said when met by Astro AWANI during a working visit to Kampung Sirabut, here.

Earlier, some expressed the opinion that the Langkawi Member of Parliament who nominated Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal as the prime minister would join Warisan.

Dr Mahathir along with five other MPs, who were the founders and members of the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), were dropped from the party recently after they refused to join the Perikatan Nasional and refused to support Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as prime minister.
