KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) information chief Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan has stressed that the party had previously been invited to join Muafakat Nasional (MN).
However, he said, after agreeing to the invitation, there was no official response on its further status.
"When asked whether Bersatu had rejected MN, I wanted to emphasise that we were invited in and we agreed.
“After we agreed, the ball is not in our court anymore.
"We did not not reject and have never rejected the unification agenda.
“Do not accuse us of rejecting it," he said through a status uploaded on his Facebook page on Saturday.
Wan Saiful added that Bersatu had discussed in depth about the invitation last year and finally the party agreed to accept the invitation to be with MN.
He said it at once showed it was not Bersatu who asked to enter MN but was invited in.
"We did not ask to enter. We were invited in.
“When we replied to the letter and stated our willingness, there was no official response on the further status.
“I myself wonder what the status of the invitation is now," he said.
Therefore, Wan Saiful said, now is the time to focus energy and strengthen the Perikatan Nasional (PN).
"MN is its own story. But we are now focusing on PN and empowering PN," he added.
