IPOH:UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is scheduled to have an audience with the Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah at Istana Kinta here tomorrow following the latest political crisis in the state.
According to sources, Ahmad Zahid, who is also Barisan Nasional chairman, will see the Ruler at 10 am, believed to submit the name of UMNO candidate to be appointed as the new Menteri Besar of Perak.
The post of Perak Menteri Besar fell vacant after Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu announced his resignation last Saturday after failing to obtain the vote of confidence in the State Assembly on Friday.
He garnered 10 votes. Forty-eight assemblymen voted against him and one abstained. The motion was brought by Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblyman for Pengkalan Baru Datuk Abd Manap Hashim.
The Perak State Assembly comprises 25 UMNO assemblymen, DAP (16), Bersatu (5), Amanah (5), PKR (3), PAS (3), and one each from Gerakan and Independent.
