National badminton ace, Datuk Lee Chong Wei remains the country's sole survivor as other players were knocked out from the 2015 Denmark Open Super Series Premier Badminton Tournament at the Odense Sports Park in Denmark.

Chong Wei who was unseeded, kicked off his campaign with a winning start after stunning eighth seed, Kashyap Parupalli of India, 21-14, 21-15 in the opening encounter early today, reported Badminton World Federation (BWF) website www.bwfbadminton.org.

The 32-year-old Penangite who is gunning for his third title of the season after bagging back-to-back titles, United States Open and Canada Open in June, will take on Wei Nan of Hong Kong in the second round late today.

Wei Nan moved into the next round after edging the host's player, Emil Holst, 14-21, 21-19, 21-15 in another opening round match.

Malaysia's campaign in three other events -- men's and women's doubles pair and also mixed doubles pair was over when they was swept aside by respective opponents.

National top men's doubles pair, Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong put up a splendid performance against the host's pair, fourth seeded, Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen before losing 15-21, 21-19, 20-22 in the 69-minute match early today.

The 2015 Singapore SEA Games gold medallist Amelia Alicia Anscelly/Soong Fie Cho was shown the exit after losing 17-21, 23-21, 19-21 to Ma Jin/Tang Yuanting of China in the opening round on Sunday.

Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying was the worst performer after they went down 18-21, 13-21 to seventh seed, Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na of South Korea in the opening round of the mixed doubles event on Saturday.

The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) did not send representatives for the Super Series Premier tournament which offers total prize money of US$650,000 (RM2.690 million).
